Sub Zero Mission Doubles Donations
I’m very proud to have worked for a charity that helps homeless stay warm during the winter. I was on the Board of Directors serving as the Director of Communication and Marketing between May 2016 and September 2019.
Through immense work by a team of dedicated volunteers the Sub Zero Mission doubled its intake of financial donations in 2017-2018 from the previous year: from $100,530 in 2016-17 to $199,414 in 2017-2018.
With my role, I led the charge in using a multitude of marketing, public relations and digital communication means. We do not spend much money on digital advertising, so we rely on good media and public relations.
This past year’s success was set up with a strong finish to 2016 that set up the strong base going into the next year’s fund raising season.
I was able to speak to several local organizations like Rotary Internationals, the Sons of the American Revolution and various other civil and community organizations. I have even spoken twice to a Family and Community class at Lake Erie College.
Radio stations from northeast Ohio and Columbus let me on their airwaves to tell our story and to solicit donations or promote upcoming events. Channel 3 in Cleveland featured us on a story about homeless during the winter.
We increased our fundraising events to three. They were all well-attended and participation is growing into 2018.
Most of all, we hit social media hard with posts from the road and our events, with special videos we have had produced, and with great interaction with people who care about what we are doing.
